General Mariology 2015

The Youth for Mary and Christ-SFAS Chapter attended the General Mariology last August 30 at Carlos Hilado Memorial State College Gymnasium, Talisay City.  The theme was "Mary, Mother of the Poor" to encourage the youth to have an active and dynamic faith by actively praying to our Lord Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Prior to the main program, a Cate-Quiz Elimination Round took place and it was participated by me and Steve Louise Rotelo, together with other YMC Chaptered schools.

After the opening speech of Fr. Benedict Ma. Cruz, Pastoral Director of the Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross Seminary, a talk was given about the Poverty of Mary, then everyone prayed the rosary. The YMC trainors from each participating school were introduced. SFAS's trainors were Aljean Artillo and Louis Spenzer Umali.  I made it to the top 20 who qualified for the final round of the Cate-Quiz.

The program culminated with the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Blase. His homily was about hypocrisy as related from the gospel of Mark 7: 1-23 which tells us this: "be doers of the world and not hearers only" (James 1:22).  After the mass, Marian Brothers and seminarians performed a dance number and the Cate-Quiz winners were awarded.

Happy Birthday Mama Mary!

We honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.  We call her "Mama Mary," and as a Catholic school, we are grateful to celebrate her birthday every year!  Last September 8, St. Francis of Assisi School of Silay City celebrated it with a mass by Fr. Salvador Barcelona and con-celebrated by Fr. Jonathan Borromeo and Fr. Henrick Villanueva at Our Lady of the Nativity Chapel in Hacienda Tinihaban, Silay City.

While students from Grade 4 to 6 attended the celebration together with selected faculty and staff of SFAS, students from other levels made birthday cards to Mama Mary during their CLE or Religion class.

"Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much.  You can never love her more than Jesus did."  Saint Maximilian Kolbe

A Talk on The Divine Will

August 19

More than 200 parents, teachers and staff of St. Francis of Assisi School of Silay City were blessed as Father Raymond Asoy shared about The Divine Will revelations to Luisa Piccarreta.  It was held at the school's covered court where Father Asoy shared true-to-life experiences of the Divine Will.

Luisa Piccarreta, from Corato, Italy, was chosen to start this new Era of living in the Kingdom of the Divine Will --- the fulfillment of Jesus's prayer: Thy [Divine Will] Kingdom come, Thy [Divine] Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. (1)

Father Asoy shared that we humans are in the habit of always living on our own will, disregarding the will of God in our lives.  Citing Luisa Piccarreta's writings, he stressed that God wants us to rely on no one but Him alone.

Grade 7A and 7B Recollection

It was a day of reflection and sharing for Grade 7A last August 14.  They had their annual recollection at Domus Dei, Silay City facilitated by Fr. Deo Camon of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod.

The morning activity included dancing, playing a game and a talk about Intervention.  In the afternoon, they were asked to draw "House and School" with a sharing afterwards on their life at home and in school.

Fr. Deo administered the Sacrament of Confession and held the rites of the Holy Eucharist to wrap up the day's activity.
