Faculty/Staff Bible Sharing on Consciense

"What was the most difficult decision you had to make in your life? Was your decision right or wrong?"

One of the main activities that SFAS does throughout the year is the Teachers/Staff Monthly Bible Sharing. This is essentially where there is an open sharing on various topics affecting the life of a teacher/staff, be it professional or personal. Relevant biblical passages are provided or read for reflection.

June 19, 2009 was the first bible sharing for this new school year. It was facilitated by Ms. Carmelita "Melit" Gustilo and Sir Ariel Gabino. The topic was about "Conscience," one of the basic teachings of the Church.

First Day of School

Nothing beats the excitement of an eager student during first day in school. Especially to those who are coming on a particularly new campus with lots of questions in mind. First thought would be the anticipation of meeting new friends, being reluctant and shy to deal with new classmates and teachers. On the other hand, adventurous kids will compensate the trials of those who are timid and shy in bridging the gap of camaraderie in the next few months.

SFAS is not new to this phenomenon. Students will always have their first day no matter who they are and what school they came from.

The first day I entered the school I was nervous and felt like a total loner . I thought the students in SFAS couldn't speak Tagalog that much. But on the second day, I found out how friendly the students were . I made a lot of friends and I thank my Mom for enrolling me here in SFAS. (Mark Umbay, 3nd year student)

First day of school ... I was so excited to meet new friends, classmates and teachers. I was not disappointed but rather proud to be a part of the SFAS family. I feel that I belonged in the family already. I am very happy and thankful to my parents that I was enrolled here and they will not regret it because they choose a good and disciplined school. (Angelica H. Isugon, 1st year student)

I felt excited and nervous at the same time to meet new classmates and friends. (Rosemarie Mercado, Grade 6)

I felt welcomed on my first day of school. (Cherry Belle Pillon, Grade 6)

I was happy on my first day of school because we did many action songs. (Althea Joy Tolentino, Grade 1)

Ang akon feeling sang first day of school in SFAS, nalipay ko kay damo akon classmates. ( Scheynah June Adelino, Grade 1)

I was happy to see my old friends and meet new friends. (Toffy Luther Amador, Grade 2)

I was excited and happy to meet new friends and classmates. (Neil Vincent Bones, Grade 2)

L.E.T.S. G.O. Camp 2009

Kimberley Salario, a third year student and Vice President of the Student Association Council for SY 2009 - 2010 (SAC) with Johannah Ganza, a second year student and Secretary of SAC , were chosen to attend the PRISSAAP–VI Leadership Enhancement Training for students in Bacolod City last June 12 - 13, 2009.

It was a seminar that was attended by different schools in Region VI. Mr. Nicfranz de los Reyes was the Youth Coordinator in the seminar.

The training included different kinds of workshops and activities that helped developed good student leaders.

As a student leader, we have the responsibility and elusive quality of management that should inspire others to perform. Being a leader is not for popularity but it is an ability to influence a group towards the achievement of goals. (Kim Salario)

We were taught how to have an effective student council. As a leader, success is the progressive realization of worthy dreams and objectives. I believe that leaders are born to serve and not to be served. (Johannah Ganza)

A New School Year 2009 - 2010

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! The school's first day of class last June 8 opened smoothly. Students were enthusiastic and happy to see their friends again! The faculty and staff were all energetic to stat a new year filled with hope and challenges!

To ask God to bless the school in the new year, the first Children's Mass was held last June 11, 2009 in the SFAS covered court and it was celebrated by Father Henrick Villanueva. Two special persons graced us with their presence during the mass: Mrs. Andy Ledesma-Segovia and Mrs. Margie Ledesma-Abello, the two daugters of Mr. & Mrs. Edgardo Ledesma, our school founders.

Throughout this year, the school aims to address the area of discipline that was put in place to ensure that all students are making academic progress.
